I'll probably realise I missed some, but I find that when working on a governance process these are often a huge part of the time &craft that is needed so that a group with v different perspectives can reach a place that has integrity together.

5. Weaving relationships
Time and care to write up acknowledgements, considerations & hold conversations to weave back & sense make, particularly with people who strongly express need for a particular way or may disagree with the direction -to keep in relationship & move together

4. Decision-making processes
Showing up from a place of 'centered' commitment to intention & values (see Healing Justice Ldn work on politicised somatics)
Holding centrally together the space of mission, integrity, care & behavioural commitments
Allowing decisions to operate from here

3. Deliberation processes
Deepening understanding of the landscape, its entanglements - sharing further insights, 'data points' & pulling threads -so a group can develop the picture & thus possibilities. Deliberating preferences & deep codes behind possibilities to reach options

2. Research, sense-making, curation, briefing
Drawing out the critical information behind the question(s) at hand, how they are entangled & what we know about them so far so that a group can focus with attention & rigour on what needs to be understood & explored

1. Info recording & architecture
The capturing of agreements, conversations, processes, info of the group over time shapes the ability to all in the group to operate from a shared place of understanding, knowledge, 'common ground' about purpose, terms, process, decisions etc.

I worry we spend disproportionate time in governance focusing on representation when there are such critical other factors also needed to make governance generative, inclusive and the best of us.

This! This is why we talk about spatial justice. The insidious 'property-ification' of colonial conquest is pervasive everywhere and sits at the base of all our social and ecological challenges. In the colonial imagination, 'property' is a tool that strips life of life.

I think about the land, how the land holds us, is us, and I know that the land will remember those who stood for justice, and those infected with the sickness of empire who callously disregarded their relations. The land will remember such bravery and such abdication of humanity.
