This may be true, but the current provider enrollment system at CMSGov is much more efficient for provider users than the systems used by most private insurers. For users, the efficiency win would be to take over provider enrollment for state Medicaid programs, which are awful.

Every time I re-enroll as a provider who treats Medicaid patients in NY, I have to print 40 forms, sign them all in blue pen, and physically mail them in. This is in a blue state that ostensibly wants to maximize the number of Medicaid-accepting providers! We have to do better.
