fairislebirdobs.co.uk/latest_sightin… No where quite like Fair Isle on days like this. A SE wind switching to NE as the day went on. Check out this awesome tally and brilliant intro that captures it all. Well done to all there and a lifetime memory I’m sure 👌 Fair Isle Bird Observatory BirdGuides

The new tree plantation at RSPB Sumburgh head continues to attract passage migrants. Nature in Shetland RSPB Scotland SumburghHead

What an incredible spring so far in Shetland for passage migrants. After the amazing arrival of Red backed shrikes in particular in the last few days, I enjoyed this superb male earlier this evening. Superb birds! Nature in Shetland BirdGuides

Any advice please? I have an Olympus (OMD EM1X) it got wet in a downpour the other day, but despite saying it is largely weatherproof. It isn’t. It won’t now turn on, and when it does it fires off hundreds of shots. Is it worth upgrading camera or foot the repair? OM Digital Solutions

The run of incredible arrivals of migrant birds continues here in Shetland. No where better when it is like this (well no where better anyway, but extra special right now 😁) RSPB Scotland Nature in Shetland Shetland Bird Club BirdGuides

Shetland continues to deliver some superb birds. Delighted to find this female Red-footed falcon this morning locally. Only to find it had been found minutes earlier unbeknownst to me by Dave Pullan 🏴 and his tour group. Took the shine of the new find slightly. But only slightly!

Was up in Fetlar working yesterday- so thought it would be rude not to pop down and see the Savi’s warbler at RSPB Mires of Funzie- found by Chris Griffin a week ago. A good one for the site list.

A little scattering of migrants around last few days. A Wryneck this morning is always great to stumble across. The Barred warbler and Red backed shrike were in the garden (photos taken through glass) Nature in Shetland RSPB Scotland

The Scottish Outdoor Access legislation gives everyone in Shetland the right to responsibly access the land. I’ve had a lot of folk in contact this week saying that they’ve faced harassment and threatening behaviour. If you’ve experienced this- please report to Police Scotland

Left Fair Isle today. A tough few days with little to show for it with migration stalling. Yesterday the winds switched and brought birds. Personal highlights finding 2 rare shrikes in a day. Brown in the morning, and Daurian later, with SteveArlow. Fair Isle Bird Observatory BirdGuides
