I'll be presenting at #AMS2025 next Monday! My talk at 2:15 pm will highlight our work towards representing uncertainty in future extreme precipitation using WRF ensembles. This work will help military decision makers prepare for extreme precipitation in the coming years.

Back in the office after #AMS2025! As someone who worked on supercell simulations, the shift to working on extreme rainfall prediction has forced me to take a step back to see things on a different scale. The talks on probable maximum precipitation have me excited for this work!

Looks like the warn on forecast system will be running a Midwest domain today starting at 17z. Could be useful to monitor this evening as storms approach. WoFS: wof.nssl.noaa.gov

Another way to think of supercells: Not solid objects, but the result of an updraft wave. The animation is vertical velocity at various heights looking down the path of a simulated supercell.

Play suspended at the Philadelphia Eagles stadium, rightfully so, for lightning in the area. But they broadcasted a severe thunderstorm warning message on the stadium PA, which appears to be inaccurate?
