When someone's brain has been rewired by a stroke (or multiple strokes), that person may say how she (or he) perceives things in a hurtful way. As a husband and caregiver of a stroke patient, I know. My task is to still love when it hurts. Be patient when I've lost all of mine.

Have you ever looked at other believers in light of Paul's conversion? You know, when he got blinded on the road. What if God blinded you and said, "It's Me about whom you were gossiping."; or, "It's Me whom you ignore." I pray that I would hear, "It's Me whom you love."

Who knew I could create anxiety by singing Goodness Of God in the voice of Kermit the frog?

People keep praying for revival inside their church... Maybe they think a bonfire indoors is more effective than torches outdoors. Maybe revival would happen if we go the command to go right.

There are some of you swinging back and forth between grandiose revelation and extreme discouragement. You don't know whether to declare victory, or throw in the towel. Let me encourage you to hold on and trust God. He hasn't failed! Make sure your life is right, and press on.

There are so many people who are looking for their version of love. Let me just say, as an old married guy, love is action. Love is listening when you don't feel like it. Love is taking care of each other when they're sick and it's messy. Love is making sure they feel safe.

Oscar Wilde said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Of the 9 Hebrew words for praise in the Bible, it (because imitation is praise) may be my favorite. I will bless the Lord at all times by saying what He says (tehila [Psalm 34:1; Ephesians 5:1]).

There are days when things go so completely against your plans. It can get to the point where a burnt slice of toast sends you over the edge. Those are the moments when you should ask yourself, "Am I patient, am I kind? Am I easily provoked, or do I endure all things?"

Whatever you do, make sure to treat others as though they are worth having a moment of breathing room. Treat others like people of value instead of undeserving servants.

When you pray for healing; do you beg and plead, or do you ask with confidence and certainty? 1 John 5:14-15 says that we have the petition. Jesus commanded certainty when we pray (Mark 11:24); so praying without confidence is offensive to God.

No matter what you get from your local ministry; if you're not digging in AND pouring out, you can't really grow.

I'm a mean husband. I transferred my wife directly in front of her seat. Then I let go of her and told her she needs to take two steps independently before I help her. She did it!!! Only two short steps, but she took those steps!!!

We often quote Philippians 4:13, but miss the two biggest portions of it. People fail and give up; get angry with God. My questions are: 1. Is this, really through Christ? Is it God-directed, and is it Christ-focused? 2. Did you keep working on the task beyond the first failure?

How many commentaries, books, people's opinion will you follow before taking the Bible at face value? If an opinion is in your way of receiving Scripture, then you need to be honest about whom you follow.
