There are suggestions online on how to prevent window collisions, many of these do not work (Window Alert stickers, UV stickers, and hawk decals) There are methods that work! Check out flap.org/stop-birds-fro… to ensure your windows are bird-safe.

Nothing better than messily tucking into kōwhai flowers on a Saturday afternoon. Lots of action like this in the Botanic Garden today.

Early morning pickup of a window strike Kererū in Wilton. Arrived at Wellington Zoo around 9 am where The Nest Te Kōhanga team gave it a good checkup, pain relief and fluids. X-rays tomorrow hopefully nothing serious. 💜 #kereru #wellingtonzoo #birdrescue

#GlobalBirdRescue day 3. There have now been 65 birds rescued! These numbers will grow as participants continue to report collisions, but the weather may be impacting migration. In Ontario we are expecting the temperature to drop by the weekend, which may mean busier days.

An absolute tragedy in Chicago today, with more to come. We are heartbroken and outraged that this massacre continues while building owners do nothing in the face of clear data and ample solutions. We send our sorrow and gratitude to all the collision monitors and advocates.

Sixty four plants on the brink of extinction propagated at Ōtari Native Botanic Garden being collected by Department of Conservation rangers from Turangi for planting into the wild. This wetland plant has declined dramatically in recent years. Only a few Juncus holoschoenus remain in the wild

While most of the birds we find are migratory songbirds, larger birds like this Sharp-shinned Hawk, are susceptible to collisions as well. This one was reported on the GBCM by #GlobalBirdRescue team Calgary Urban Species Response Team (CUSRT).
