Just walked out the front of Karlsruhe Hbf (I have to change trains here) and there are trams and buses everywhere. Why can’t we do this in Oxford, or Reading, or Cardiff, or Bath, or Cambridge?!

In a taxi in Basel, the thermometer reading 37.5°C. I don’t know how accurate that is, but it’s definitely very warm. Bit much really.

Really is hard to shake the feeling that at some point in the last 5 years, a decent chunk of the population went completely and irredeemably mad. Like, properly insane.

750 miles of train driving in just two days of work so far this month (plus two weeks off). That’s quite a lot.

I really wish I didn’t always feel so hungry when I get home from work at this time of night. Eating now can’t be good.

I had a lovely time in Freiburg last week but I’m somewhat bemused to come home and find roundabouts being painted with the flag of Freiburg. Understandable in Guildford, but puzzling elsewhere.

Driving through the Canadian Rockies in March, and seeing a massive Canada flag in Canmore was pretty impressive. Seeing a St George’s Cross sellotaped to a railing next to a zebra crossing, less so.

It occurs to me this morning that I have managed a total of 10 hours sleep over the past three nights. A few naps here and there during the days too. But that’s probably not enough
