Rodd Kelsey Planting large scale new forests in existing deserts and drylands would quite likely have a net planetary warming effect, all while disrupting existing ecosystems. So this is quite different than preservkng/restoring tropical/temperate forests.
Tune in tonight @ 7 pm PST for the California Academy of Sciences "Nightschool" for talks on the value of seasonal resources for wildlife. I'll be on w/ Kristin Sesser of @PointBlueConSci to talk about BirdReturns - delivering habitat for shorebirds on their epic journeys: protect-us.mimecast.com/s/myTVCwpyxjIJ…
Nice to see our paper on improving research impact (impact.sciencejon.com) being used in a lesson on actionable science! sesync.org/resources/acti… @wooddecomp @bradfordlab Rodd Kelsey
Last week, we hosted the Point Conception Institute Science Symposium w/ UCSB Geography & the Dangermond Conservation Foundation. The symposium focused on accelerating collaboration for conservation & celebrated over 70 research projects taking place at the #DangermondPreserve ✨
Congrats to California Trout, Trout Unlimited & The Nature Conservancy in California for the accomplishments of the Salmon & Steelhead Coalition over the last 10 years & to their honorees @JimWoodAD2 and Assemblymember Steve Bennett . No fish were harmed in the production of this photo. #bigfish #salmon #biodiversity
The Klamath wetlands of California and Oregon are absolutely critical to saving migratory wetland birds. Check out this video about why and the work we are doing to help understand their importance and to save them (The Nature Conservancy in California @PointBlueConSci Audubon California)
