Universities don’t have much clout. Our kids' school has a tier system. (Who doesn't?) People working in "waste disposal sectors” are in the lowest tier, well below those responsible for the management of the deceased”. Management? Lecturers and profs aren't even on the list.

How can spite evolve? Given how spitefully people behave, it's interesting to see how it can spread in networks. rdcu.be/cdunV

Would a primate researcher with no experience spontaneously use Twitter to hammer out surveys? Claudio wants to know your thoughts about captive orangutans.

This is an unsurprising finding about surprising findings. Animal cognition research thrives on “breakthroughs” and “discoveries” and these are what get reported on the most in the press and by researchers in other disciplines.

One of the clearest examples of active food sharing in chimpanzees. A few caveats come to mind. (1) Why is a tortoise with chimpanzees? (2) By themselves, videos are not evidence. (3) Not likely to be a good example of reciprocity. All of which makes this perfect for lectures. 😁

The kind of question kids always ask. If a gorilla and a chimpanzee fight, who will win? Spoiler: chimps don’t ply fair. Lethal coalitionary attacks of chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes troglodytes) on gorillas (Gorilla gorilla gorilla) in the wild. nature.com/articles/s4159…
