Following up on various CO2 measurements at conferences, there is now a review article summarizing the possible ill effects of CO2 exposure: nature.com/articles/s4189…. There are a lot of possible negative effects of CO2 exposure, but there is a lot more work to be done.

Coming in at #8 (of the top ten ALMA Observatory📡 discoveries of 2019) is the saltiest discovery, yet. Narrated by the @badastronomer (aka Phil Plait), find out how ALMA was able to see a quintillion tons of NaCl orbiting a young star. public.nrao.edu/news/2019-alma… #YearInReview

Hey there! Are you considering using the word “optimal” in your astronomy paper (or just about any other scientific discipline)? It’s probably not what you actually mean! Also: “nearly optimal” means nothing. That’s all. Thanks for listening!

Exceptionally good news from U.S. National Science Foundation for the #ngVLA (National Radio Astronomy Observatory | NRAO)! ngVLA represents an enormous leap forward in Radio #Astronomy and has been designed with #Astrochemistry in mind! This is a critical investment in astronomy, as important as Hubble and JWST! public.nrao.edu/news/nsf-award…

Dear astro academia, what are we doing with prospective grad student visits this year? In person and invite people from all over the country? Another year online? Some mix of both?

keflavich (@keflavich) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Astro grad programs: When are you hosting visits, and are you doing them in person? We're trying to schedule to avoid overlapping with other visits.
