As the fifth grade class was walking into Mrs. Stonehedges classroom room, she exclaimed"good morning children, as you'll see, there is a paper facedown on your desks. Please leave it facedown until after this story I'd like to tell you."
"This is a story about a father and his two sons and three grand boys and the devastation that hurricane Ian caused on September 28, 2022."
"A father, who lives in Southwest Florida has two sons and three grand boys that live all the way across country in Seattle
Washington. They would love to see more of each other, but they are over 3000 miles away!
On September 28Th 2022 there was a category 5 hurricane that ravaged through Southwest Florida. The hurricane was so devastating. The flooding was astronomical. There were many deaths,
many families left homeless. The hurricane swept through many counties in southwest Florida, and the most hard hit of areas was Cape Coral, where the father lives. The other hard hit areas where hundreds of thousands or even millions have visited over the years by tourists
tourists and Floridians alike was Sanabel island, Matlacha and Fort Myers Beach. All of these areas were literally flattened by Hurricane IAN, the devastation IAN caused was unquestionably the most devastating hurricane to hit Florida in its history! Thousands and thousands
of homes were completely demolished. These areas were totally unrecognizable hundreds of people died. The houses that did stand, where people had to get up in the attic after 15 foot plus storm surges, engulfed their homes with sea water! Families and children scrambling up to
even one instance of a 97-year-old man in his attic with the water up to his neck, trying to saw through the roof trying to survive! Many people lost their lives drowning in their attic! Such a sad, sad story."
"The father, who lives in Cape Coral survived. His home lost most of its roof and some flooding in the kitchen and dining area. The father feels so blessed. It could've been so much worse for him.
Now It's been 22 gut wrenching days since hurricane IAN. His children and grand boys up in Seattle has not called or texted him during that whole time to see if he is OK. This is so heartbreaking!"
Yesterday afternoon, I was out at my last customers home. He said,
“I have some ice cold beers in the cooler, would you like one?“
I said “sure that would hit the spot“
He handed me a BUD LIGHT!
I gave it back to him and said
“ sorry, I don’t do tranny fluid!
