Our research on self-identification suggests for most it started either by some1 suggesting it, or because of suspected/confirmed autism in a close friend/family member. Followed by intense research which often led to a sudden realisation, but sometimes a more gradual processing

New paper on #Autism & PTSD symptoms, shows many experiences that autistic folk find traumatic are not recognised in DSM-5 PTSD criteria. These experiences are just as likely to lead to high PTSD symptoms. Change needed so no autistic person is denied PTSD DX and treatment! 1/2
