Katalyst was pleased to contribute policy analysis & data insights to this new Cornell ILR School report on the need for climate adaptation to protect garment workers, companies & economies.

Lots of exciting ideas this week. KI's Anne Lally participated in yesterday's ETUI - European Trade Union Institute #Tranformativeideas conference, looking at ways to ensure a Just Transition.

Meanwhile Martin Curley is joining the 'Transforming Ownership in Times of Overlapping Crises' conference by Utrecht University and UvA Amsterdam where lots of innovative ideas are being discussed.

Two themes from yesterday's workshop that should inform the final #CSDDD: 1. Justice is only possible if people have realistic ways to access its systems; and 2. Businesses alone cannot be allowed to define effective due diligence. European Coalition for Corporate Justice Friends of the Earth Europe🌍 Frank Bold

KI's Martin Curley was a guest lecturer this week at Cornell ILR School. Joined Prof. Sarosh Kuruvilla's class on labour practices in global supply chains & had a great discussion with students on the role of NGOs in trying to secure responsible business conduct.

Katalyst spoke this week with Professor Elena Sychenko’s ESG Compliance class at Università di Bologna, discussing human rights and climate risks in supply chains, and steps that can be taken to address them.

Today, EU Council, European Parliament & European Commission will discuss #CSDDD in #trilogue Will they protect the rights of #workers in the #garmentsector or will they weaken the text? Here are 5 things garment sector workers need in CSDDD: 🧵 (1/6)

We joined Cornell ILR School Global Labor Institute for a series of presentations on 'Higher Ground' - a report KI contributed to about heat and flood risks to garment workers. One of the highlights was a roundtable at the European Parliament, with Saskia Bricmont and Clean Clothes Campaign.

Katalyst participated in the OECD ➡️ Better Policies for Better Lives Forum on the garment sector this week. A good reminder that definitions of 'progress' towards a fair and sustainable industry vary enormously depending on who you're talking to.
