A few chapters in and my mind is 🀯. A key take away so far: conversations about our processes for applying strategies and solving equations is so important! #sd33learns

Educators from across BC joined me today to think about planning and designing for elementary mathematics and numeracy learning for this school year. Along with suggested year and week plans and ideas for instructional routines and projects, I shared some ideas to consider. 1/4

Introduced vertical learning today! Students worked in groups to refresh their memories of place value via the snap format. Great snapshot for teamwork, leaders and flexible thinking! #sd33learns #thinkingclassroom

Practicing bar graphs via vertical learning. We did a whole class survey then students worked in teams to represent the info on a bar graph. Lots of great conversations and team work! #sd33learns

Reflecting on our learning after exploring different math games in small groups. We learned more than just math content during that time! #sd33

Ss solved a problem of how many bikes, scooter and car wheels could make up 33 wheels. Was incredibly impressed by the thinking and representing this group did! Using shapes that have the same amount of sides as wheels. Legend and visual patterning. #sd33learns
