Following approval through the FDA and our IRB, we have successfully launched our trial evaluating the efficacy of FMT (fecal microbiota transplant) for patients suffering with recurrent uncomplicated #diverticulitis . Let’s hope this proves a successful alternative for patients!

My patient needs surgery. A major procedure and I always admit the patient postop. The insurance company DENIES inpatient stay because “not medically necessary”. So now I change my clinical practice and patient care out of the blue? Who is responsible for a negative outcome?

When I interview people for jobs, I try to ask questions that will not elicit a rehearsed response. I prefer spontaneity as opposed to canned, rehearsed answers…

What triggers appendicitis? Despite common belief, definitely NOT stool impaction in the appendix as seen here in this perfectly healthy patient!

Looking into getting a flexible sigmoidoscopy tower for our inpatient floor for bedside procedures. Anastomosis evaluation, bleeding, decompression. Anyone else have that capability and find it useful?
