When Jesus said, “It is finished,” he meant what he said. He didn’t mean, “I’ve done my part, now you need to do yours.”

Our salvation is completely accomplished by Jesus. We don’t sing, “Jesus paid a lot…”

The image of God in man is undeniable. And God has written eternity in our hearts. We suppress these truths in unrighteousness, but the great end of mankind is to be resurrected unto eternal life to behold Christ our Savior.

We do not hope in Christ for this life only; we look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. We await the day when we will be raised to look Jesus in the eyes and he will wipe the tears out of ours.

For 2,000 years, the greatest threat to the church has been 'Jesus-plus' theology. The whole of the NT bears this out, as does church history. Jesus is enough--for forgiveness, for righteousness, and for eternal life.

It's not our love for Jesus; it's his love for us. It's not our hold on Jesus; it's his hold on us. It's not that we will never fail; it's that he will never fail us. It's not that we won't fall; we will. But when we do, we won't be cast headlong, because he upholds our hand.
