The Japanese version of WarioWare Snapped! has compatibility with the obscure, Japan-only DSi game Atsumeru Egaocho , which had some WarioWare staff involved. If Snapped detects you have a save for that game, some graphics will be replaced. Credits to Skyevlyn for the find

The little 3D demo I knocked up in 1989 at age 17 that launched my career. Thanks to the Video Game History Foundation for discovering it and looking after it!

Many 3D games optimize performance by using low-quality models for distant objects. Diddy Kong Racing's low-quality models are so aggressively optimized that the racers appear as merely cones. Below is footage that forces the game to use them even when close to the camera.

For the first time ever, North America has official access to the original PC-88 version of Hydlide, which is notably different from the (honestly subpar) NES port that came out five years too late in 1989. So here's my old review of the Windows version! landofobscusion.blogspot.com/2015/07/hydlid…

Throughout the different rereleases of Super Mario 64 over the years, Mario is being progressively consumed by his shadow. With each new engine the game runs on, his shadow rises up further from the ground and covers more of his feet.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 has a recurring "dreamer" reference that is present only in internal filenames and unused dialogue from an expunged character, while being completely hidden from the player. It is possible that at some point, dreaming might have been one of the game's themes.
