Emmanuel Macron is now pleading for his peers to participate in a forum that doesn’t matter on a foreign issue over which he has no control. Deeply unpopular at home and stymied in the National Assembly, France's President turns to a vanity project abroad. WSJ editorial:

Every normal person I talked to knew that homeless encampments were a disaster that required police enforcement and mental health commitment. A small group of activists convinced every elected official that it was just a housing issue. This EO is a return to common sense.

There’s nothing compassionate about letting someone in the grip of psychosis languish on the streets or behind bars in the name of preserving his “right” to do so. Assisted Outpatient Treatment reduces homelessness & incarceration. Fund it more, I write in City Journal

While JD Vance's Middletown has seen better days, regional techno-industrial hubs like Ohio's capital, Columbus, disprove the notion that America's center is being hollowed out. For the summer issue of City Journal, I traveled through Ohio, talking with workers, professors,

The UK should remove all its policies that discourage or de facto ban air conditioning. The extra demand added to the grid comes just when we have lots of spare or even negative value power. wattdirection.substack.com/p/air-conditio…

The greatest irony of the New Right's claim that they are assailing a long-term "Uniparty" in Washington is that they are the group most likely to go along with the one true source of bipartisan agreement in recent years: increasing spending and gov. intervention in the economy.
