To equate left-leaning or right-leaning politics with Christianity fails to honor the biblical teaching. Jesus has affirmations as well as sharp critiques for both platforms.

I don’t moan about being politically homeless: Exile is often essential to faith. And if your faith is so closely identified with your politics that the two are indistinguishable then your god may well be your politics - a cruel and merciless tyrant if there ever was one.
