We identify tumor-associated monocytes (TAMo's) that, unlike TAMΦ's, display a dramatically enhanced migration induced by the TME and promote cancer cell proliferation Read about migration capability of macrophages vs. monocytes here: biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Have you ever wondered why M2 #macrophages tend to accumulate in #tumor or #fibrotic #ECM? Is it because they migrate to these areas, or could the stiffened ECM characteristics be pushing them to polarize towards the M2 phenotype? #Cancer #Collagen doi.org/10.1101/2024.0…

Time to say goodbye to our interns, Ping and Book, from ISE CHULA (Chulalongkorn U., Thailand). We hope to see them grow with the new ideas they learned this summer. See you again! And thank you to everyone at NYUAD who supported their success!

A reminder that proteins are highly dynamic molecules. ◼ We have made progress in measuring & predicting static protein structures, but the dynamics that animate life remain challenging to measure & model.

📢Actin alert 📢 Recent all-atom molecular dynamics simulations from the group of Gregory Voth published in Biophysical Journal suggest that actin filaments under force form microcracks, which lead to new binding interfaces for the mechanosensitive proteins from the LIM domain family. I

When you kick off a shiny new metabolomics project, but the first figure looks like it was pulled straight out of that biochemistry textbook you swore you’d never open again 😂

#immunomechanobiology news! co-1st authors brianchesney & Jiranuwat (Bas) Sapudom showed that Extracellular Matrix News with aligned microarchitecture, like #cancer tissues, reprograms metabolic signatures of dendritic cell. Suppressing their immune potency. Read it all here (advanced.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ad…)

Just published in J. Mater. Chem. family: We present a #LabelFree, #AI-driven platform for #Macrophage #Phenotyping using quantitative imaging — no dyes, no labels, just clean, scalable immune profiling. A step forward in decoding #immune–#material interactions. doi.org/10.1039/D5TB00…

No driver mutations could be identified in 181 tumors. The authors do not know why. Perhaps, it's an algorithmic failure. Perhaps, it reflects non genetic contributions to carcinogenesis. What do you think ?

From Thailand 🇹🇭, UAE 🇦🇪 & Sweden 🇸🇪 — across time zones — we crunched data to draft our new paper on how #tissue properties shape #cell #metabolism (#proteomic + #metabolomic). Stay tuned! 😉
