A little insight into the next block on the 1080 Sprint 1080 Motion. Contrast accels during the lower body gym. Using PMax to guide programming (approx. 50%Vdec). 1x15m @ 30%Vdec > 1x10m @ 50%Vdec > 1x15m @ 30%Vdec. 3-4 minutes between each rep. Looking to take advantage of PAP!

Make RDLs great again! 130kg x 5 Build a strong robust 🍑 & reinforce the back 💪🏼 don't make these an after thought in your program. I program these as a main lift with my athletes Provence Rugby ⚫️🏉. I get a 3RM snapshot early in season, and program them like squats and bench!

IMHO, 150min/week of “aerobic” exercise are insufficient for long-term longevity and metabolic health gains/maintenance…I would say that ~300min/week should be the goal. Furthermore (and very important), the concept of Zone 2 training is NOT about cardiorespiratory

📄 New recently accepted manuscript on the utility of the Dynamic Strength Index - is it actually useful? 👏 Cracking piece of work led by the ever impressive Simon Brearley (whom we should all be following)! 🔗 Link to text on RG: researchgate.net/publication/38…

Minor Premiers 2023/24! Time to recover and get prepped for a home semi in two weeks. By the time the season finishes we would have started preseason exactly 1 year ago. This season has been a marathon, but a rewarding one at that.

The budgets of second division French clubs tells us that rugby is going strong here in 🇫🇷 Most second div clubs have more $ than Super Rugby and NRL clubs back in Aus 🇦🇺 Brive for example has a budget of 26 million AUD, with Aurillac (the smallest) with 8.1 million AUD.

The Collision Zone: Tracking Momentum in Rugby Union w/ 1080 Motion Benchmarks Has ⬆️body mass made them ⬇️explosive & mobile. While they may be more dominant in collisions, has there been a cost in terms of # of ball carries & tackles? 📈 Jonathan Ward ⤵️ simplifaster.com/articles/colli…

"To be fast, you need to hit 3.0m/s or 6.7mph on your 1st step. If the athlete has not reached that threshold, their body is not moving fast enough to get the center of mass forward enough to get the 1st step under or behind the mass." 📈 New Christian Korfist ⤵️ simplifaster.com/articles/zero-…

In my new article on SimpliFaster I explain how I use to 1080 Sprints speed limit setting to overload Force &/or Power, depending on the sprint phase I am targetting. Plus I share some practical examples of how I use it within my program of pro rugby players!
