Something to keep an eye on. BAMs 1st frost date forecast updated 8/25. Based on my field observations Sunday we’re going to need all of September to finish in WCMN especially where wet saturated soils have slowed down progress all summer.

#soybeans #oatt August was drier than normal. No doubt about it, and expect yields to taper off. But if you widen the time period a bit, it shows a better soil profile. Yes? Not a farmer. Just a back alley dice shooter w/ a hot M8B.

Really smashing the Growing Degrees Units this week. 59 for a high yesterday. 28 GDUs in 5 days. Our late April to mid May planted crops at 2,000-2,200 GDUs. ~2,400 to black layer on 96-100 RM corn but crop looks behind that due to continually cold saturated soils & WF smoke.

Southern Rust making its way into WCMN again over the last couple weeks. Not ideal way to finish. Not horrible yet, but seems to be spreading up the plants pretty quickly. Corn not quite full dent. More worried about an early frost / freeze.

Southern rust doesn't stand a chance. Aproach® Prima fungicide kept this field clean and green (bottom) vs. the untreated top portion.

Impressive to watch corn today shrug off the very surprising +2M acre addition per this AM USDA report. Almost 99M acres planted 🤨 Also, crazy how price follows trend lines! Red lines, drawn a long time ago.

One more taste of July this week, followed by an inevitable temperature recession. Early October boating gives way to heavy jackets by mid-month

Not sure what makes me more sad and disappointed: Yankees with 33 years straight winning seasons in a row or learning that streak started in 1993! Uff, getting old!

My dad and uncle in Aug 1977. Grandpa labeled the back of every pic! Cool habit I really appreciate! 65-70+ bushel wheat. Cash $2.01-$2.07. Could seal it and get $2.37.
