His comments were entirely defensible.

Saddened to hear about the passing of Michael Ledeen, a brilliant thinker and speaker and devoted family man. I hadn’t talked to him in many years, but I will always be grateful for the friendship he gave me when I first came to Washington. My condolences to his family.
