I love this poem about Mariana Lawton’s rejection of Anne Lister -written 25 years ago by my then tutor Professor John Whale - now Director of University of Leeds Poetry Centre. John said how his tutorials on Romanticism always somehow ended with me talking about Anne Lister, so he wrote a poem!
