People this government has pissed off: pensioners, farmers, employers, nimbies, environmentalists, Londoners, … If this isn’t a cunning plan to lose the next election, it certainly looks like one.

Labour government announces rise in international aid funded by cut in defence spending. Oh, sorry, the other way round. Who’d have thought it?

I answered β€˜no’ to the question from Teacher Tapp β€œDo you have a coach at school?” But I think I may have misunderstood the question.

I will never vote Labour again. Not in my lifetime. I will never forget the skeletal faces of starving childrenβ€”cut off from food just beyond a sealed border. A border kept closed by choice. I will never forget the silence bought by political donationsβ€”or blind loyalty that bind

Just read The Heart’s Invisible Furies by John Boyne. Fantastic. About a gay boy/man growing up in Ireland in the 50s/60s, later living in Amsterdam and New York before returning to Ireland. So passionate, powerful and moving, but also one of the funniest novels I have ever read.
