A lot has happened in the past month trying to figure out what I'm doing after graduation. And to add to the chaos, I received an acceptance letter to medical school last night! I've always had a dream of becoming a doctor, and now I can say that I AM GOING TO BE A PHYSICIAN!!!

And today officially marks the beginning of my medical training!

It's amazing to think that I already finished my first year of med school. I'm sad I can't use the excuse "I'm just a first year med student" anymore, though.

In honor of being a quirky med student studying for Step 1, I'm going to post semi-daily random anatomy facts about my brain (maybe I'm being a little productive?)

I'll start with my first brain anatomy fact (yes, this is an MRI scan of my brain)

Time for brain structure number 2: the putamen!

Got a little caught up on studying (sorry!), but here's the globus pallidus, a part of your brain that coordinates how you move!

Here is the thalamus of the brain (not to be confused with the hypothalamus!)
