ON THE TOASTER FRONT: just had a great call with an American mica company. the raw sheet is not produced in the United States at all anymore, but surprisingly, they are beginning the process of restoring it. in the next couple of years mica sheet will likely be made stateside

Big news: Washington just passed a Right to Repair law guaranteeing your right to fix your stuff! This was a huge fight, and took us many years to get over the finish line.

What's the best place to find a social media creator that has a basic editorial eye? Looking to hire but need someone who can parse conversations about manufacturing as well as grow into someone with original ideas.

Looking for some opensource sheet nesting software. Any tips and ponters? Needing to try and optimize, if we can some new products.

We did it. Thanks to the relentless voices of public land owners across the country, language authorizing the sale of nearly 500,000 acres of public lands in Utah and Nevada has been stripped from the House budget reconciliation bill, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

We've kicked off our new weekly newsletter, "Future of Reindustrialization." Odd that "reindustrialization" gets changed into "deindustrialization" in most spellchecks, huh? Probably nothing... toolordie.com/p/tool-or-die-โ€ฆ

Turns out if you can build cameras that keep a self-driving car on the road at 75mph, turning cameras on an assembly line like Bucket's Matt Puchalski makes finding flaws and variance quick and easy.

Planning out our road trips to cities across the country through the fall. (Right now Detroit, KC, Memphis are being planned.) What's happening in Louisville? Would love to start putting together some factory tours and interviews there. Who is building?

Not complaining (I'm having a blast) but I'd forgotten how much time this stage of a new project consumes. Been cranking hard and still feeling like I'm doing 30% of what needs to be/could be done.

My AC condenser is giving out. Air handler is old too but seemingly works. Is it dumb to just replace the condenser and not the whole system? (I suspect it is but Iโ€™ve never done home HVAC) And yes also considering mini splits etc. just trying to price options.
