Spotify will raise consumer prices - but without the Living Wage for Musicians Act, none of that additional money will go to artists. Fans who want their money to pay musicians not platforms, support the LWMA here: weareumaw.org/make-streaming…

Spotify is making billions for its owners. It can well afford to pay real royalties to the artists who create the content for the platform - support the Living Wage for Musicians Act and change streaming from a drain on our industry to a collective benefit musicbusinessworldwide.com/spotify-co-fou…

“Speaking to label reps, publicists and artists –all of whom were wary of going on the record– I know many feel discovery mode sets a dangerous precedent… But many artists and most labels are fearful of reprisal from Spotify, making public critique risky” theguardian.com/music/article/…

I can't get most of these motherfuckers to fact check "Mexicans are rapists" and "black people commit more crimes" and "women abort babies born alive"... YET THESE SAME PEOPLE want the world to stop making couch memes...AND WHY? Because a white boy is the butt of some jokes now

I'll be at this year's POP Montréal to speak on two panels—one on union organizing in the music industry, and one on music-military connections (BDS, our victory over SXSW, etc.) popmontreal.com/news/pop-sympo…

funniest thing about this peak belch of gen x insecurity is that all of that punk-funk and garage rock and whatever of the early 00s actually got kickstarted by entirely forgotten d.i.y. bands in the mid to late 90s, but history gets written by the trust-fund cokeheads i guess

It’s such a shame the 90s bands I see being remembered are almost all male, when the 90s were a paradise of woman-led bands: Hole Belly Garbage Skunk Anansie Portishead The Cranberries The Breeders Who am I forgetting

Moon Safari is obviously a legendary record but can we take a minute to acknowledge that Air knocked it out of the fucking park on the Virgin Suicides soundtrack? I might like it even more.

Thinking about this Don Cherry quote today as I wrap up another week of heavy duty DAW editing/listening. "Im at a period of my life where I have to decide if Im going to be a productive machine, or whether I want to be a human being that wants to create in tune with nature."😮‍💨

We can’t all sue our labels for the info we deserve about our streams and the money they generate. The Living Wage for Musicians Act would require this info to be transparent and accessible to musicians directly, from Limp Bizkit to small independent artists - as it should be!
