Both teams leave runners stranded in the first. St. Henry’s Boeckman reached second after a single and a steal, but the Apaches defense held. Fairview’s Arend walked and advanced, but Delzeith shuts it down with a strikeout. Scoreless through one here at the ACME State Tournament

St. Henry jumps out to a 2–0 lead after a flurry of doubles in the top of the second. But the Apaches stay in it thanks to a smooth play at third by Singer, our Asst Commissioner’s son. That’s one way to keep your spot in the lineup!

Fairview’s ACME baseball team was blanked 4-0 by St. Henry in a state quarterfinal tonight at Holy Name Ballpark in Kalida and ended the season 9-4. Story/photos from the Northwest Signal’s Brandon Shrider to come tomorrow and in Monday’s paper.

Archbold grad DJ Newman was just drafted in the 15th round by the Houston Astros. Newman has spent 3 seasons at BGSU before announcing his transfer to Tennessee for next season. He will now get to decide between heading to Knoxville or into the Astros org.

The 2nd NWOAL graduate is off the board, as Evergreen grad RJ Shunck, who just finished his junior season at Toledo, was drafted in the 16th round by the Miami Marlins. Schunk, a RHP, was 3-2 with a 4.42 ERA in 19 appearances with 40 strikeouts and 20 walks.

Great job by Jason Brown and the Bryan Baseball and athletic boosters. Well run event, and perfect way to honor the 1975 team. Also got to have a catch with Brett in the outfield. Still one of the best natural fields in Ohio!
