I went to Fairview High School and Bryan High School briefly last night and tonight to take some photos of summer league boys and girls basketball scrimmages. Small gallery from both nights of action: bryantimes.com/sports/bryan-h…

Still looking at a 7pm start for game three but it will be 30-40 min after the completion of game two. Currently top of 3rd at 6pm. ACME State Tournament

Both teams leave runners stranded in the first. St. Henry’s Boeckman reached second after a single and a steal, but the Apaches defense held. Fairview’s Arend walked and advanced, but Delzeith shuts it down with a strikeout. Scoreless through one here at the ACME State Tournament

St. Henry jumps out to a 2–0 lead after a flurry of doubles in the top of the second. But the Apaches stay in it thanks to a smooth play at third by Singer, our Asst Commissioner’s son. That’s one way to keep your spot in the lineup!

It’s still raining, the lights are on, the sun’s still out and I am looking for a rainbow. Ahrend shuts down the side with a strikeout looking to end the top of the third. St. Henry still up 2–0 in this tight ACME State Tournament matchup.

Fairview shows signs of life as N. Shininger rips a single to center to get things moving, but St. Henry shuts it down quick. Schmitz pulls off a two-for-one in left with back-to-back fly outs. Still 2–0 St. Henry Starting 5th and the sky is turning into Kalida colors

Fairview’s ACME baseball team was blanked 4-0 by St. Henry in a state quarterfinal tonight at Holy Name Ballpark in Kalida and ended the season 9-4. Story/photos from the Northwest Signal’s Brandon Shrider to come tomorrow and in Monday’s paper.

Archbold grad DJ Newman was just drafted in the 15th round by the Houston Astros. Newman has spent 3 seasons at BGSU before announcing his transfer to Tennessee for next season. He will now get to decide between heading to Knoxville or into the Astros org.

The 2nd NWOAL graduate is off the board, as Evergreen grad RJ Shunck, who just finished his junior season at Toledo, was drafted in the 16th round by the Miami Marlins. Schunk, a RHP, was 3-2 with a 4.42 ERA in 19 appearances with 40 strikeouts and 20 walks.

Great job by Jason Brown and the Bryan Baseball and athletic boosters. Well run event, and perfect way to honor the 1975 team. Also got to have a catch with Brett in the outfield. Still one of the best natural fields in Ohio!
