RIP actress Valerie Mahaffey (UT Austin Bachelor of Fine Arts, 1975), who appeared on TV's Northern Exposure, Cheers, Seinfeld, Frasier, Law & Order, The West Wing, Young Sheldon, and the 2020 film French Exit, among many, many other roles.

June 11, 1936: On a train-stop visit to Austin, U.S. President Franklin Roosevelt officially broke ground for UT Austin's future Texas Memorial Museum - today's Texas Science and Natural History Museum - by pressing a button to light a stick of dynamite at the site.
