Archbishop Alexei did nothing wrong and he had my full respect. There is no way the Synod did not influence him to write this letter and it is taking a knee to the Schismatics and their progenitors.

Penitent Septimus Wilkinson Orthodox Church OCA I agree in part, especially re Abp Alexei. I'm less inclined with regard to Metr Tikhon. A great division in the #OrthodoxChurch in the world & in this country is coming, between those who will suck up to the godless powers & those targeted by them. I understand the need for

Olivia Vasquez πŸ‡·πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Supalouma Lord Bebo I disagree. By NOT targeting the Kiev regime he's prolonging the war, slaughtering Ukrainian men by the thousands each week (& Russians by the hundreds), & keeping the door open for western adventurism.

Jim Jatras Π’Π»Π°Π΄ΠΈΠΌΠΈΡ€ Orthodox Church OCA the little I have seen of him he seemed like a very gentle man. I suspect he stepped into something he isn't built for and that is way outside his wheelhouse. I would liked for him to say "no" and just go back to Mt. Athos but I can't judge. The whole thing is tragic to me.

Saxon Homesteader Π’Π»Π°Π΄ΠΈΠΌΠΈΡ€ Orthodox Church OCA Indeed. Now that I think about it, I heard him speak at a recent visit to Virginia, where he recounted the travails of the Alaska diocese & the horrendous persecution visited on the native Alaskan population after the US purchase, where we blatantly violated our treaty promises

Jim Jatras Orthodox Church OCA The OCA is full of Russia-despising, pro-NATO, pro-Zelensky liberals, which is ironic considering that it's basically the Russian Orthodox church in America with English services. Especially among the ex-Episcopalian types, there is a strong desire to appear modern & "tolerant."

Spinelessness is a bad look in a successor to the Apostles who all died under persecution for Christ. An Archbishop of the Orthodox Church welcomed an Orthodox President of a foreign nation coming to a conference with the American president. This merits an apology?

D. Dawg Orthodox Church OCA There are a lot of those, but I wouldn't paint the whole OCA with the same brush. You find them in other jurisdictions, too - including ROCOR. Like I say, this is less between jurisdictions than within all of them.

Having learned a lot about how things really work at the episcopal level, I wouldn’t be surprised if Bp Alexei not only didn’t write this apology but wasn’t even informed of it being written until after it was issued. It reeks and we all smell it.

Jay Dyer Is this his attempt to avoid the conclusion that the Filioque attributes the property of Causation to two Persons but not the Third?

George A Orthodox Reflections Jim Jatras Does anyone know how the Alaska visit was coordinated? It seems it was planned ahead. An orthodox leader visited an orthodox cemetery to pay respects. And the Metrop acts like it’s WW3. Or is it just jealousy he wasn’t there for photo ops?

Matt Scroggins Orthodox Church OCA Well, as a catechumen, it's best to pay as little attention to it as possible, but always remember: bishops are people too. The Church is not of the world, but for better or worse, it's certainly in the world.
