(Bonus) Use LEGOs to watch plant roots. It's just clear LEGO pieces and gel. But the advantage of LEGOs is that they can be autoclaved (didn't know that) and are a modular way to set up chemical gradients, etc. journals.plos.org/plosone/articl…

We found promoters specific for several cell-types and share in the paper our main findings about meristem organisation in Marchantia. We also elaborated more detailed models for gemma development.

OpenPlant collection of TF promoters and cellular map for Marchantia gemmae, epic project guided by Facundo Romani and @SusanaSaGu - should be a useful new resource for linking gene expression and cellular microarchitecture in Marchantia. (doi.org/10.1101/2023.0…)

Super happy to see our work starting to get published, massive congratulations to Facundo and Susana for managing this (huge) project

Worth adding that these constructs and lines are great for looking at dynamic processes/development/responses to stresses, not just static patterns - my favourite being ERF20 and the re-making of stem cells

Day 8 of great synthetic biology papers. “Idempotent Vector Design for Standard Assembly of Biobricks” (2003). Genetic circuits rarely work on first try. It's hard to copy someone else’s work. So this paper standardized DNA assembly, much like screws were standardized in 1864.
