Choking is likely the clearest indication of potential femicide. When I have an FV client who reports choking/strangulation, I move immediately into crisis safety planning.

This is really good stuff. Alienating behaviours certainly do occur. Sometimes they’re really “PA”, as much as I dislike that term; sometimes they are protective behaviours by FV sufferers; sometimes they’re even both. What we can’t do is deprive sufferers of their agency.
