I could not disagree more. The fact remains that multilateral lenders in LATAM distress assets because they do not focus on returns. They focus on debt servicing. Only private capital seeking returns has the incentive to ensure projects get off the ground.

The only way to change this perverse dynamic is by working with private capital to structure these projects. Incentives have to be aligned so that bids are attractive to the right investors. Unfortunately that is not the purview of IFIs. It's the work of private sector.

I see many opportunities for investment in Colombia. BRI is a political distraction! Colombia - it's time to rethink why you still rely on IFIs as an OECD economy? More private capital infused with the best business practices = muting this political noise and seeing real growth!
