This summer-seeded turf type tall fescue is in great shape coming out of winter. Fresh fertilizer app and 3 days of showers ahead should send it on its way. BrettYoung

Finally seeing enough moisture to rinse the dust off of the rubbers this spring. Here’s hoping more to come this weekend 🤞 Fungicide timing is right around the corner in Perennial Ryegrass fields in the Parkland region of MB. BrettYoung

Beautiful July-seeded turf type tall fescue field on the verge of flowering. Will get a shot of pyraclostrobin this week to help maximize our yield potential in this strong field. All that’s left to do is watch it grow and keep en eye out for armyworms BrettYoung

More pyraclostrobin going down on perennial ryegrass today. Lots of fields starting to shed pollen now. Armyworms are present in the odd field, but not close to threshold numbers at this point in time. Keep an eye on your fields in the coming weeks. BrettYoung

Annual ryegrass looking strong after catching some timely showers the past week. Excellent option for mixed farms looking for a cash crop with extra benefits of bedding plus fall grazing. BrettYoung

Earliest seeded annual ryegrass in very good shape, moisture-wise, and just starting to push heads out now. Should be looking at very solid yield potential as long as Mother Nature cooperates the rest of the growing season. BrettYoung

If your fung was applied 2+ weeks ago, it’s time to keep an eye on your perennial ryegrass for leaf & stem rust. For most, plants are already starting to dry down naturally, but for those with more moisture, it may be beneficial to shut it down with another app BrettYoung

Grass seed harvest is officially underway in the Parkland region of MB! Here’s hoping the rain clouds that have evaded us all summer stay away. BrettYoung

The heat has returned, and we’ve got lots of swathers knocking Perennial Ryegrass down after a perfect week for finishing seed. Looking forward to seeing combines in the field next week. Pleasantly surprised with the first few to put seed in the bin. BrettYoung

Down to the last handful of fields for swathing in our 2025 perennial ryegrass fields in the Parkland. Yields continue to impress, considering how dry the growing season was this year. BrettYoung

Final check in for swathing in 2025 perennial ryegrass. With that, it’s time to find some combines making dust! BrettYoung

Perfect day to harvest perennial ryegrass in the Parkland today. Lots of progress made, encouraging results so far. BrettYoung
