Looks like the Atlantic is once again quieting down. No more Dexter, and only one area of disturbed weather off of the East Coast. Nothing in the Gulf or Caribbean.

Somebody I work with said $FLY is IPO-ing today and is expected a 58% pop when it starts trading, and a lot of people got out of other space stocks like $ASTS for that, according to his broker. Just relaying what I heard.

Three weeks away from the peak of hurricane season and one wave that recently came off of Africa has the possibility of making it to the US.

Not much change in our overall weather pattern. Slight chances for isolated PM showers and storms remain through the middle of this week. Highs will stay in the upper 90s. We are still watching the Atlantic for the formation of Erin.

Topical Storm #Erin has been born in the Atlantic. The forecast from the National Hurricane Center takes it westward across the ocean, and likely becoming a major hurricane in 5 days as it nears the Bahamas.

Tropical Storm #Erin continues to organize. The odds of it making it into the Gulf goes down with each model run. For now, a curve back out into the Atlantic after about a week looks much more likely.

We have an area of very slight concern in the western Gulf. The NHC gives it a 20 percent chance of developing into an organized system. We'll keep our eyes on it, as it could bring us more much needed rain.

The NHC has designated the disturbance in the Gulf as Invest 98L. It doesn't have much time to organize, but the models take it into south Texas giving us a good chance at rain this weekend, especially on Saturday for San Antonio.

The disturbance in the Gulf could become a tropical depression before moving inland over S. Texas and northern Mexico. It'll bring an increased chance of showers & storms for San Antonio Saturday and slightly cooler highs in the middle 90s. Sunday back to the typical August heat.

Hurricane #Erin continues to strengthen and is borderline a Category 5. The eye and track of the storm is drifting farther west than expected. A trend that will NEED to be watched. #tropiics

#Erin is now a Cat 5 with 155 mph winds. For now it looks like the storm will pass between the East Coast and Bermuda before heading back out to sea.
