Feels like Belgian #nightjars are having a hard time. Cold, wet and likely the absence of sufficient #moths. Found four abandoned nests yesterday. Captured males weigh only 60g (normally 65-75) and are very skinny.

Surrey Bird Club will once again be in Jubilee Square tomorrow, where scopes will be on hand to view the Peregrines. With the juveniles on the ledges now, it's a great chance to get some stunning views, and perhaps see them in flight. SurreyBirdClubNews Woking Council Visit Surrey

I found this Greater Blacked-Backed Gull on the beach in South Haven today Fair Isle Bird Observatory. Upon closer inspection it turned out it was ringed. The bird was first ringed as a chick in 1994 making the bird just over 30 years old smashing the previous longevity record by 4 years! BTO

IT FINALLY HAPPENED!! After 15 years of studying #nightjar, and finding more than 400 nests, one of our team members Richard Schnürmacher found a three-egg nest! Fingers crossed it does not get predated or disturbed!

It has been a fantastic year for Kestrels in the Cotswolds, large brood sizes and pairs breeding in old haunts where they’ve been absent for years. Old stone dovecotes (and bedroom windowsills!) preferred UK Little Owl Project matt prior Mike King🦉🐺

The Oslo Honey Buzzards are still in the nest! Both young look well fed and dad comes regularly with food (mum was last seen a month ago). The weather forecast for the next week is good so I think they should fledge OK.

The Grozzas are coming! Pine Grosbeaks have arrived in Oslo and I reckon we are going to have a big movement on our hands this autumn. All the birds I had today were heading south west although one did stop briefly for a photo.

Earlier this week I did a solo hike up into the mountains of Dovrefjell, Norway and whilst on the way down I found my first ever Hawk Owl, followed by another individual appearing. Observing mating, hunting and prey cacheing was an incredible experience!

30 or so Black Kites made the crossing in between rain showers earlier today. During my visits to Cadiz Province, I've never known it to rain so much. Almost two weeks straight with more to come. There must be a backlog of birds waiting for good weather on the coast of Morocco
