Read our Dylan Gyauch-Lewis' review of Breakneck — a new book touted as the "companion volume" to Abundance — in The Sling. thesling.org/on-the-optimal…

The irony is not lost on many in Washington that Trump says spitting on a DC cop is justification for hitting/punching back "hard" when he pardoned hundreds of Jan. 6 rioters who assaulted those same cops — and said attacks on them that day were "minor."

If Democrats are serious about fighting Trump and reversing his war on governance, democracy and history, they need to adapt. The political structures of the past are destined to fail in this moment, they need to create new ones, writes our Max Moran

“But corporate crime is non-violent” Tell that to the families of the 346 people who died in Boeing’s crashes, or the thousands of victims of the OxyContin-fueled opioid crisis, or the many poisoned by tainted food, killed on the job, or mangled by unsafe auto design

Make no mistake: corporate lawbreaking kills. It causes physical injuries & sickness. It leaves victims permanently disabled. It destroys communities, families, and individual lives. All so corporate profits can go higher & so rich shareholders & executives can get richer.

And the sad thing is, reducing corporate crime should not be that hard. It doesn't require super sophisticated, elaborate, technical solutions. All it requires is for law enforcement agencies to enforce our laws -- & prosecute corporations & execs when they commit crimes.

Vice-chair of the Abundance org Center for New Liberalism endorses Trump’s fascist takeover of DC, falling for easily-disproven Republican lies about the city. Crime rates have fallen precipitously in the past two years, with murders dropping 32% in 2024 and 12% year to date

I think propping up the whole economy around data centers that drain water and hike energy bills in order to power AI systems that are exponentially more expensive to build and use than Chinese models and also don’t make any money will probably end up pretty chill for everyone

NEW: The Bureau of Labor Statistics does more than help us understand the economy. The data it produces is baked into our economy policy. By law, agencies use BLS data to adjust many safety net programs. A Trump loyalist helming BLS threatens everyone's economic security.

Missed Yglesias responding to my quick blog, but once again he is fighting a strawman! Progressives' issue with Uber is not that it provides convenient car services, it's that the company knowingly broke the law, daring regulators to stop them. That's corrosive!!

Henry Burke (@burkehenryt) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Issuing a correction: Yglesias did not misunderstand my blog. He very clearly just didn't read it (or he's functionally illiterate). The piece is not attacking Uber from an "antitrust" perspective, it attacks them for lawbreaking x.com/mattyglesias/s…

Here's my full piece w/ Bonica on WAR scores 1) Split Ticket's WAR model is biased in favor of moderates 2) We create our own WAR measure w/ stronger model; correlates w/ G Elliott Morris 3) Correlation ≠ causation. Diff-in-diffs & RDDs show no moderation effects link below

AVIATION UPDATE: There have been over 100 aviation disasters since the start of the Trump Administration. Now, his FAA is moving to loosen regulations on commercial drones, opening the door for widespread drone delivery operations by corporations like Amazon and Walmart.

This comes as we learn more about the investigation into January's deadly collision at DCA that took 67 lives. NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy accused the FAA of stonewalling the investigation and creating a culture that discouraged employees from raising safety concerns.

Suxh an important thread, especially as the Abundance bros keep discussing "public safety" in big cities. The most blameworthy causes of violence are often fatcat CEOs and the culture of greed based off assuming all shareholders are amoral (aka Milton Friedmanism),
