Have your own evidence of beautifully complex neurons in non-vertebrate species? We'd love to see it! How much longer will we buy into the idea that "non-vertebrate neurons are simple?" Journal of Comparative Neurology is all about promoting awareness about brain diversity!

I’m delighted: 10 months into my tenure as EIC, I see the first results of my decision to reject papers while writing to the authors to point out problems and suggest how to improve it so that a new submission could make it to revision. Result: papers accepted! Suzana Herculano-Houzel

Peer review sucks, but it beats the alternative - so let’s make it better by keeping in mind that the point of peer review is to provide the authors with a “soft-opening” of their “show” to make sure that they’re ready for prime time.
