Absolutely despise goalkeepers playing straight passes into the feet of a marked midfielder with no proper option. Those instances are where playing out from the back is ridiculous and has become too philosophised.

I’m broadly in favour of wanting to build up quite deliberately and I’d go as far as saying you have to be able to do it to be an elite side but I’ll never be convinced of those lazy balls into midfield with a player right up their arse. It’s a recipe for disaster.
