A little wrinkle in #Erin's forecast. An upper ridge over the southeast US has trended east and stronger, pushing an upper trough Erin's way. This could induce some shear over it as it approaches the West Atlantic. It appears mostly upper level though, so a stronger storm may be

A yearly reminder with TS Erin in the picture... The trend is turn north and avoid FL, potential landfall at least 10 days out. Not to worry, but check forecast daily. Rely on NHC, local NWS. No secret models, data, or Guru forecasters exist that they haven't considered.

For my senior project, I've been making a model that forecasts the short-term probability of Convective Initiation. It's not available to the public yet, but I plan on open-sourcing it and making a real-time product using this model sometime in the near future.
