Members of the eco club are attending Home Farm in Croston on a visit. Exploring sustainability in farming as well as how an automated dairy farm works. They will present their findings at school, focusing on the eco club's key areas: waste, biodiversity & healthy living.

Eco club surveyed the school grounds during today's meeting using the Merlin Bird ID app on their iPads. They have used the data to find the best locations for ten bird boxes made by past students. We discovered Goldfinches at the front and Dunnocks, Willow Warblers and Jackdaws

This morning 9P/Gg3 completed their microclimate fieldwork. The enquiry question was 'where is the best site for a new wind turbine & solar panel around School?'. They chose 4 sites around school's grounds, completed a risk assessment & collected data which will be analysed later

Nine Eco Club members attended a Climate Summit event hosted by the Youth MP and BwD Youth Forum. For World Environment Day they completed a series of interactive workshops on fast fashion, recycling with BwD council & flooding by the Environment Agency #worldenvironmentday

16 members of the eco club attended the NW Sustainability Learning Conference at Ewood Park today with Mrs Banks and Mrs Patel. Exploring sustainability in our schools and interacting with different organisations for a better future.

🌲Our Eco Club wins the Green Flag with Distinction Award! 🌟The Eco Club have worked hard this year, planting trees with the Council, organising Meat Free Mondays trail and attended the North West Sustainability Conference. 🍃Well done Eco Club, what a great achievement!

🪴The Eco club have been learning about cuttings from two types of Aloe Vera and a Spider plant. 🍃The pupils learnt how to remove the cuttings, how to plant them, how to care for their different needs and how to repot them.

Ending my journey at Pleckgate today was hard. The last 7 and a half years have been a journey! Teaching through covid, standing in a pond with bin bags around my legs, using a skirt design from a pupil and seeing their face when I turned up to the next lesson wearing it! 1/2

Running the eco club at Pleckgate has given me so many memories and love for our students. I will miss the community so much, but it was time to go, on to the next chapter at Little Lever in September! 2/2
