Nuclear War. The reason we don't consider it. Mutual Assured Destruction (MAD) It's MAD, as in crazy. It also means destruction, of the WHOLE Planet! One launch triggers a counter launch, and someone close may think it's aimed at them, so they launch. Pretty soon, destruction.
