China just unveiled its new maglev train at the Modern Railways Expo in Beijing. With phase one complete, it’s designed to hit 600 km/hr (373 miles per hour), which cuts travel time from Shanghai to Beijing to just 2.5 hours (down from the current 4–6 hours by high-speed rail).
