I found my love Gabriella Bennett Gabriella Bennett in a cocktail bar in Tokyo. Women in Journalism Scotland goes international.
The 🦛 🦛🦛 are back BBC Scotland. Can’t believe it’s been two years since we made our arty odyssey around Scotland’s new towns.
I can also heartily recommend Pauline’s ‘hot minute’ unpicking the arts funding situation BBC Front Row last night. The show came live from Glasgow and was presented by Kirsty Wark. Well worth a listen 🔗⬇️ bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0…
Donald where’s yer mincer? Spotted Nairn Festival. Well played David Boyle. The title is Meat Grinder…
Killie & poetry gang thegither… A rare first edition of #RobertBurns’ poetry, published in 1786 by a Kilmarnock printer (the first to take a risk on the poet’s literary talent), is to go on sale Lyon & Turnbull on 19 Sep at its Books & Manuscripts sale. #TheKilmarnockEdition
The perfect Thursday lunchtime. Listening to your talented pal Rachelle Atalla talk Nairn Festival about her writing process with the equally smart Samantha Holland of Nairn Bookshop. Today is the last day of the festival. Nice to (re)meet author Sean.Lusk who introduced the session.
New. Applications open for the best job in Scottish political journalism, IMO. itvjobs.referrals.selectminds.com/jobs/political… A chance to work with the fantastic ITV News Border teams and present Representing Border the flagship politics programme, taking over from, well, me.
Did you catch Herald Mag & Arts spread on ten of the leading twentieth century Scottish artists on Saturday? You can read all about it in tbe link below... (or on the screenshot below... we do like to make it easy to read about Joan!) Thanks Teddy Jamieson heraldscotland.com/life_style/245…
This book is a masterpiece. A meditation on Dutch art, the desire to make art, the importance of stillness, on grief, and family, and most of all on love. Laura Cumming writes exquisitely but she also gives the reader space for their own reflections. I'm so happy I read it.
Lovely to have the journalistic powerhouse that is Kevin McKenna pop into JBM HQ this morning. Looking great, as usual (Kevin, not me)!
Have started a One Thing Which Caught My Eye ‘bit’ in my Airts & Pairts #Substack. I’m kicking it off with season 2 of Colin from Accounts written by and starring Harriet Dyer & Patrick Brammall. Now streaming BBC iPlayer. 🔗⬇️ airtsandpairts.substack.com/p/look-mum-its…
