I just realized something...

Boy does it make me happy to see Mark Borchardt pop up in Joe Pera Talks with You! Two solid dudes who bring me back from the brink of cynicism by reminding me that there's beauty in the Midwestern mundane if you just have the courage to stay sweet and wonder about stuff.

Still have plenty of doubts about living in the suburbs, but my local library is offering an event on Fugazi's In on the Killtaker, so there's that.

Stretching selfie (stretchie?) during #bibliocon

While filming Congo, I sat on top of a Volcano talking to Tim Curry about that movie. He said one of the coolest things was that it saved a number of small indie theaters from going under, because they knew that two nights a week Rocky was going to do big business.

25 years ago these worked as slugs in IL tollgates--the kind where you lob your change into a basket and wait for the gate to go up. (For the record, I witnessed a thrifty friend do this but did not do it myself!)
