From my visit to The Vyne, once a #Tudor palace owned by William Sandys, Lord Chamberlain to H.VIII. He created the Oak Gallery, where Henry held court when here & used this door. Elaborate panelling has coats of arms. Cath of A's pomegranate appears 49 times. #History #Royals

I love this novel (ha!) bench shaped as a book I saw in the gardens of N Trust house, The Vyne, Hants. One of the series 'Sitting with Jane' to mark the 250 anniv of #JaneAusten who had connections here. This one is 'Threads, Lace & Time' by Corinne Marsh #History #sculpture

Having met the 'Leopard Men' of Liberia, explorer Lady Dorothy Mills' views were often sought. In Oct 1926 UK press broke story of 2 young feral girls 'raised by wolves' in Bengal. She & eminent Prof Julian Huxley were asked. My bk No Country for a Woman The History Press #History

In her lifetime a rumour persisted that Mrs Thatcher's real grandfather was Harry Cust (cover), a brilliant, blue-eyed aristocrat, MP for Stamford, Lincs, poet & womaniser. It's not impossible. But is it true? All in my book The History Press #Victorian #politics #History

Saw this stunning & huge painting, 'Seasons', at the Miro Fundacion, Barcelona. By American Lee Krasner (1908-84), whose husb was Jackson Pollock. His fame often overshadowed her work (the old story). He died 1956, drunk, in a single-car crash. She painted this 1957. #art #women
