Nice to have both Red Crossbill & White-winged Crossbill at work today! It has been such a good winter for them here. I'm fairly sure the reds are nesting here now #birding #Ontario

At least 11 different Bald Eagle over the house, some competing for airspace! Lots of early spring migrants showed up with the warm South winds, blackbirds here in big numbers now.

Just returned from a fantastic trip to the Falkland Islands. I look forward to sharing some of the photos. By the way, I'm not wearing the airlines uniform, just well colour coordinated!

Well, let's start off things off with a Falkland Steamer Duck. A flightless & endemic species that is found quite commonly around the islands. Very vocal & often very comical to watch.

The biggest highlight of visiting the Falklands for me was the Penguins. They don't come any more beautiful than the King Penguins. I felt like I was dreaming & had to pinch myself just so surreal!

Upland Geese were very common right across the Falkland Islands. The sexes look very different, with the males being white. Gorgeous birds to see in the rugged country #birds #falklands #birding

Southern Rockhopper Penguins are feisty little penguins. It's incredible how a flightless bird can manage to get hundreds of feet up to the top of the cliffs! #Penguins #falklandislands #birds #birding

A pair of Kelp Geese, a common sight around the beaches of the #falklandislands Again, the males of this species are white, but for me the females patterns outshines them #birding #wildfowl #Geese

Seeing Black-browed Albatross on the #falklandislands was amazing. But seeing them feeding young on their mud dome nests was definitely a life goal achievement. #birding #Albatross #seabirds

So many classy #wildfowl on the #falklandislands Here is another one, the Yellow-billed Teal.

Gentoo Penguins are definitely the most curious. Stay still on a #falklandisland beach & they will waddle over to check you out. Such an amazing experience to see so close! #Penguins #birding

Southern Giant Petrels are a common sight in the #falklandislands. These massive seabirds are always patrolling for anything dead along the coastlines. Fantastic birds to watch flying, just effortless. #birding #seabirds

Very busy few weeks doing breeding bird surveys, must have walked 100 miles. I was rewarded with this male Canada Warbler on territory. Fingers crossed, he gets rewarded by securing a mate. #birding #Ontario

This fabulous Cape-May Warbler decided to spend some time in my back garden. I thoroughly enjoyed watching him feed & trying to get some photos of him against our neighbour's brickwork #birding #ontario #warblers

Stunning male Purple Finch just showed up in my garden. Also, constant passage of Yellow-rumped Warblers & American Robins heading west. #birding #Ontario

First cold snap of the fall & north winds produced a decent fall of birds. Very impressive numbers of Ruby-crowned Kinglets, they were everywhere! #birding #ontario

I don't chase many birds, but I couldn't resist this one. Ontario's 2nd ever Black-tailed Gull. This mega from 🇯🇵🇷🇺 is a major rarity in North America & a stunner of a gull!

Late October is the best time to see Golden Eagles on migration through #Ontario. I hit gold three times last week at the office. This cracking first year cruised over at a reasonable height for once! #birding #goldeneagle

I finally joined the Cave Swallow club! Ontario has seen an influx of these rare visitors from Texas, following some strong SW storms. #rarebird #caveswallow
