We are absolutely dejected to witness the steady stream of excellent journalists losing their jobs today Bell. We want to acknowledge the incredible, vital work our colleagues perform every day to keep Canadians informed. When journalism jobs are lost, it affects us all.

The announcement from Bell Media was pretty vague about BNN Bloomberg, so most people probably don't realize how incredibly gutting those cuts are, for a newsroom that already did so much with so little. I'm truly astonished at the list of people they let go of today.

Thinking about my colleagues at CTV who have lost their jobs in the mass layoffs today. But I'm also thinking about news consumers in Canada. We need various sources of credible news in this age of disinformation. Choice and competition make for better journalism.

The West needs more news, not more Toronto. Sad to see BNN Bloomberg’s Western Bureau Chief as a part of the cuts.

My heart goes out to all the Bell Media journalists who lost their jobs today, including many talented BNN reporters and anchors I once had the pleasure of working with a few years ago. Stay strong, I'm thinking of you all.

Truly stop with the paywall complaints. There are fewer and fewer and fewer places out there doing original journalism. Subscribe and support your favs or they'll be gone.

Today was excruciating. We lost some of the most talented people in Canada. Some have announced their departure and some haven't. But each of them are so bright, can work like lightning, and can churn out content like nobody's business. If you need these skills. Hire them.
