A packed, tense, public meeting this evening saw the Chief Constable of Cambridgeshire told the force had let the community down. One farmer described coursers in 4x4s ‘taking over’ his farm - ‘tearing up crops’, killing hares and deer. Another had his vehicle rammed.

Britain’s huge and globally important seabird populations depend entirely upon sandeels. So Britain has banned the hoovering up of sandeels (mostly for factory pig feed) to save the seabirds. Now the EU is suing Britain to lift the ban. Revolting. theguardian.com/environment/20…

Last year one of our seabird ecologists studied human-puffin interactions on Lunga. Her findings: human visitors can benefit puffins by scaring off predatory birds, but may also cause disturbance by getting too close. Our rangers and roped-off areas help to keep the balance.

This must STOP! An incredible Sperm Whale got entangled off Skye just a few weeks after two juvenile Humpback Whales also got entangled. The fishing industry must clean up its act and be held accountable.

Whilst walking back from Gun Hill towards Burnham Overy Staithe yesterday I saw something I'd not witnessed before. This Red Kite dropped into a channel and appeared carrying a large fish. I've read that they will hunt like Ospreys, but never seen it. Isn't wildlife just amazing.
